Case Western assistant prof, nephrology fellow join medicine faculty
Medical Center leadership is proud to announce the following additions to its faculty and leadership staff.
Desiree Fabiola Garcia Anton, M.D.
Dr. Desiree Garcia Anton, a recent nephrology fellow at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine.
Garcia Anton earned her doctorate in medicine and surgery at Universidad de Carabobo, Valencia, Venezuela. She then completed an internal medicine residency from 2011-14 and a sleep medicine fellowship from 2014-15 at the University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital. This was followed by a nephrology fellowship from 2015-16 at University of Miami/Jackson Memorial Hospital and from 2016-17 at UMMC.
The coauthor of two peer-reviewed journal articles and 13 abstracts, Garcia Anton has given a pair of oral presentations and an invited lecture at scientific meetings. She is an active member of several professional organizations, including the American Medical Association, the National Kidney Foundation and the American Society of Nephrology.
Amanda Vick Clark, M.D.
Dr. Amanda Clark, an academic hospitalist at the Cleveland VA Medical Center and assistant professor at Case Western School of Medicine, has joined the Medical Center faculty as an assistant professor of medicine and associate program director of the internal medicine residency program.
After receiving her B.S. in microbiology magna cum laude from Mississippi State University in 2005, Clark earned her M.D. at UMMC in 2010. She completed internal medicine residency and served as chief medical resident at the University of Alabama at Birmingham before joining the Case Western faculty. She served as an associate program director of the internal medicine residency program at Case Western.
An active member of the Society of General Internal Medicine and the Association of Program Directors in Internal Medicine, she has been published in the Annals of Internal Medicine, the Journal of General Internal Medicine and Clinical Infectious Diseases. A member of Alpha Omega Alpha, Clark serves as an associate editor for the Society of General Internal Medicine Forum.
